Mahindra SUV Bookings Reopen From Jan. 25-Feb. 3

Indian automobile major Mahindra and Mahindra (M&M) has received around 5,900-plus bookings for its sports utility vehicle (SUV) XUV500 in just two days after the bookings were reopened on Jan. 25, 2012. The second phase of bookings will be kept open for a period of 10 days from Jan. 25 till Feb, 3.

The company received 8,000-plus bookings in just 10 days after the launch in October 2011. The company has also raised prices of XUV500 from Jan. 1, 2012, due to increase in the prices of raw materials and depreciation of the rupee.

The price of base model W6 has been hiked by Rs 30,000 (ex-showroom Delhi) and that of models W8-FWD and W8-AWD have been hiked by Rs 50,000 and Rs 55,000, respectively.

XUV500 was initially launched in a price range of Rs 10.8-12.88 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) in October, 2011.

  1. This muscular Sports Utility Vehicle has sold close to 3,196 vehicles across the country, which is more than the overall total sales of the D-segment sedans in the country. This SUV is priced aggressively and has been generating huge profits for the company, since the time it was launched last year. The most significant aspect of these impressive sales has been attributed to the competitive pricing done by the company. The Mahindra XUV 500 price is in the range of Rs. 11.38 lakh to Rs. 13.81 lakh (both prices are ex-showroom New Delhi) and is available in 2-wheel drive and a 4-wheel drive variant. The company claims that the XUV 500 is capable of giving a mileage between 12 – 15 Kmpl, which is pretty impressive. This remarkable fuel efficiency is due to the Micro Hybrid technology that has been embedded in this SUV.
