Mahindra Excellence in Theatre Awards in Delhi on March 7

The seventh edition of the annual Mahindra Excellence in Theatre Awards (META) will be held in New Delhi on March 7, 2012.

The awards ceremony will be hosted by Kabir Bedi. The hosts, Mahindra & Mahindra, will close submissions for the award on Jan, 10, 2012.

The best play carries a purse of Rs 100,000 while the cash prize for the other categories varies between Rs 45,000 and Rs 75,000. A lifetime achievement award carries a Rs 500,000 kitty.

Awards will be given in the following categories:

Best Play, Best Director, Best Stage Design, Best Lighting Director, Best Innovative Sound Design, Best Costume Design, Best Choreography, Best Actor (Male) In a Leading Role, Best Actor (female) in a leading role, Best Supporting Actor (male), Best Supporting Actor (female), Best Original Script, Best Ensemble.

This year, the jury, which is yet to be announced, is likely to include National School of Drama chief Amal Allana and filmmaker Shyam Benegal.

The Theatre productions will be staged at Kamani Hall, Copernicus Marg or Sri Ram center, Mandi House, New Delhi, India
