Ice Fest 2012 in Michigan’s Coldwater on Jan. 28

The very famous “Ice Fest 2012” is scheduled to take place in downtown Coldwater, Michigan, United States on Saturday, Jan. 28, from 10 am to 3 pm.

Event Highlights:

1. Ice Fest will feature master ice carver John Merucci and his crew. The group will create over 15 frozen works of art throughout the downtown area. This year’s theme is “All Things Sports,” featuring professional, collegiate and Branch County high school teams and mascots.

2. There will be two dual carve-offs between members of Merucci’s crew. Spectators can cheer on their favorite Branch County high school mascot.

3. As always, a Chili Tasting contest will be taking place during the event. Guests can purchase a Chili Tasting card at the Coldwater Executive Suites for $5 and vote for their favorite chili out of six contestants.

Carriage Rides:

Also available to guests will be carriage rides through downtown Coldwater at a cost of $2 per person.

Enjoying Books and More:

Local author Patricia Polacco will be on hand at Taylor’s Books and More from 11 am to 1 pm to meet with Ice Fest visitors. Also, the Branch District Library will offer sports stories, arts and crafts and indoor soccer and football for the youngsters.

Ice Fest is presented by the Coldwater Downtown Business Association and the Downtown Development Authority. The event is made possible by the support of title sponsors Wal-Mart Distribution Center 6043, Wal-Mart Transportation 6843 and Michigan Gas Utilities.
