First LoCo Comedy Film Fest in London From Jan. 26

The first LoCo (London Comedy Film Festival) kick starts on January 26, 2012 and is already shaping up to be one of the best of the years festivals, with local hero Edgar Wright making an appearance, the first screenings of The Muppets and the world premiere of the infamous The Day Off; the lost Ray Galton and Alan Simpson script.

There’s something for everyone in this 4-day festival at BFI Southbank, The Fairy/ La Fée (Dominique Abel, 2011) is a French/ Belgian whimsical rom-com, Go To Blazes (Michael Truman, 1962) displays classic and delightful British comedy acting and The Kings of Silent Comedy which includes Keatons Sherlock Jr (1924) and Chaplins The Champion (1915) exhibits two of cinemas best loved comedians from the silent era.

Not just screening films, LoCo get their buzz by giving up and coming British comedy film makers a leg-up. Their education program LoCollege will be exhibiting Discovery Screenings; the slot will be taken by a British production that has not yet gained distribution and will be accompanied by the winning short comedy film from the London Short Film Festival that took place at the BFI earlier this month. Not only that but through the 4-day festival there will be numerous workshops, including Kickstart Your Comedy Career along with LoCo’s School of Slapstick. which range in prices.

This festivals no doubt the best way to get over those post Christmas/New Year blues and with tickets selling out fast make sure you don’t miss out on the laughs.
