Apple Announces Education Event in New York on Jan. 19

Apple has invited media to an “education event,” on Jan. 19, 2012 at the Guggenheim Museum in New York, United States. The event begins at 10 am ET.

The invitation reads “Join us for an education announcement in the Big Apple” of what appears to be a chalkboard background.

Sources close to the company tell that the event will involve an initiative related to iBooks in education, presumably with some sort of tie-in to iTunes U.

This will be Apple’s second visit to the iconic Guggenheim in a year. Last February, media boss Eddy Cue showed up there for the launch of the Daily, News Corp.’s tablet newspaper.
