UAE Markets to be Closed on Jan. 1

Financial markets in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) will remain closed on Jan. 1, 2012 for celebrating the New Year.

An announcement by the Federal Government Human Resources Authority said all federal ministries will remain closed Jan 1, to mark the New Year.

The circular issued by Humaid Mohammed Obaid Al Qattami, minister of education and chairman of the Federal Government Human Resources Authority, said work will resume on Jan. 2, 2012.
