‘Sama: A mystical evening of Qawwali’ is an annual Qawwali concert that has come to Mumbai for the first time. The concert will be heald at YB Chavan Centre, Nariman Point, Mumbai on Dec. 17, 2011 from 7 pm onwards.
Performed by qawwals from Awadh, the event will revive 700-year-old Sufi Tradition through compositions in praise of the Lord, ranging from Hazrat Ali to Lord Krishna.
The concert is a part of one of the initiatives, ‘The Qawwali Project’ taken up by the Sufi Kathak Foundation. The Qawwali Project was initiated to keep alive the practice of traditional Qawwali that struggles for survival.
