South African actress Charlize Theron will be conferred with a special award for her independent movie work at the upcoming Palm Springs Film Festival in California.
The Oscar-winning actress will receive the Variety Indie Impact Award at a star-studded gala event in January in recognition of her long-time support of independent film. Previous recipients of the awards include Philip Seymour Hoffman and Mark Wahlberg.
Palm Springs International Film Festival will be held from January 5–16, 2012.
