Twin Cities Arab Film Fest in Columbia Heights From Nov. 10–13

The seventh Twin Cities Arab Film Festival opens Thursday, Nov. 10, 2011 with the theme “Art in Revolution.”

This year’s festival opens with the Egyptian film “18 Days.” A group of 10 directors quickly shot 10 short films about the Egyptian Revolution and the 18 days in Cairo’s Tahrir Square.

The festival also will feature a short experimental film from former Minneapolis resident Heba Amin. Her “Voices of the Revolution” is based on text messages Egyptians used to get their voices out when the Internet was down.

A panel discussion on the Arab uprisings will be held before Thursday’s screening.

Mizna, an Arab American arts organization, is presenting the festival at the Heights Theatre in Columbia Heights, Washington. It runs through Sunday, Nov. 13.
