Johnson County Sheriff’s Office Celebrates 150th Anniversary Today

Johnson County Sheriff’s Office is celebrating 150 years of service to the community. On November 5, 2011 the Sheriff’s Office will host an open house in celebration of the agency’s 150th Anniversary. 

The event will take place between 9 am and 2 pm at the Fred Allenbrand Criminal Justice Complex located at 27745 W. 159th Street, New Century, KS 66031.

This event will feature displays of historic memorabilia, modern equipment and practices along with staff to help answer questions. In addition tours will be available of the Sheriff’s Operation Center and of the New Century Adult Detention Center. 

Tours of the Operations Center will be continual during the event however tours of the detention center will only be available at 9 am, 11 am and 1 pm. Each tour will be limited to 30 people and is on a first come, first serve basis.

Sheriff Frank Denning will be addressing those in attendance at noon with a special presentation on the history of the Sheriff’s Office.
