GovFest for Small Business at Johnson County Library on Nov. 17

In conjunction with Global Entrepreneurship Week (November 14-20) the Johnson County Library will host the fifth Annual GovFest on Thursday, November 17, from 10 am to 8.30 pm at the Central Resource Library, 9875 W. 87th St., Overland Park, KS.

More than 60 representatives from federal, state, and local government agencies and non-profits including Kansas Small Business Development Center at JCCC, KCSourceLink, Bureau of Labor Statistics, Kansas State Data Center, Heartland Procurement Technical Assistance Center and many more will be available to answer questions and offer information on how government agencies can help business owners start or expand a business for little or no cost.

Exhibits will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. There will also be special programs throughout the day.

10:00  - 11:30 a.m.  "Competing for Government Contracts: Basic Training" with Ross Draney, Subcenter Director, Wichita Office, Heartland Procurement Technical Assistance Center

12 - 1 p.m. Lunch & Learn: "ReferenceUSA" with Fran Dennison, Business Reference Librarian, Johnson County Library

1:30 - 2:30 p.m. "How to Apply for a Loan" with Neida Neusinkvelt, Assistant District Director for Economic Development, SBA, John Addessi , Consultant, Kansas Small Business Development Center at JCCC, and Rebecca Gubbels, Small Business Product Manager, UMB Bank. Facilitated by Stephanie Zamora, Network Navigator, KCSourceLink

3 - 4 p.m. "Marketing Your Small Business on Facebook and Other Social Networks" with John Addessi, Consultant, Kansas Small Business Development Center at JCCC

4:30 - 5:30 p.m.Local Entrepreneurs Share Their Stories with Sal Frustaci of New York Dawg Pound, Judy Transue of CHC Creative Remodeling, Shawn Kincade of Aspire Business Solutions and Jennifer Meents of AAA Screening. Facilitated by Stephanie Zamora, Network Navigator, KCSourceLink.

5:00- 6:00 p.m. Reception

6 - 8:30 p.m. "Starting a Business: Success Right from the Start" with Elisa Waldman, Consultant, Kansas Small Business Development Center at JCCC.
