Qatar’s annual Doha Tribeca Film Festival, started on Tuesday, Oct. 25, is set to run until Oct. 29, 2011.
The festival opened with “Black Gold,” a movie by French director Jacques Annaud partly shot in the gas-rich Gulf country.
Omar Sherif and Lebanese director Nadine Labaki were on the red carpet for the opening as well as Pinto.
US actor and the founder of New York’s Tribeca Film Festival, Robert De Niro, helped to organize the first Doha festival in 2009.
In it's third year running, the Doha Tribeca Film Festival got off to glittering start, drawing in scores of Arab and Western celebrities on its opening night at Katara Open Air Theatre. The festival will showcase an array of films from the region and promote Arab Cinema.
