Korean Cultural Event in Portugal’s Lisbon on Oct. 23

Traditional Korean dances will be performed in the capital city of Portugal, Lisbon on October 23, 2011 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Korea and Portugal.

The event, scheduled to take place at Teatro Sao Luiz at 7 p.m., is expected to attract more than 700 dignitaries, including high-profile Portuguese government officials, lawmakers, journalists, and influential figures in the culture and arts sectors.

The event program includes both traditional and modern Korean dance and musical performances. Kook Soo-Ho Dance Theater will perform a traditional dance, which will be followed by a pansori (Korea's traditional genre of musical story-telling) performance by vocalists -- Park Ae-ri and Im Hyeon-bin, and a haeguem (traditional Korean string instrument) performance by Ahn Su-ryeon.

Modern culture and arts performances include breakdancing by the b-boy group Gorilla Crew and a percussion performance by the traditional Korean musical group Gongmeyong.
