EPL: FA Launches Probe into Rio Ferdinand Incident During Derby

English football governing body, the FA has launched an investigation after Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand was left with blood pouring from his eye after being hit by an object thrown from Manchester City fans as Reds players celebrated their dramatic 3-2 winner in the Manchester derby at Etihad stadium on December 9.

A FA statement said, We will work with the clubs and authorities to identify those responsible and support the strongest sanctions available, including life bans.

Manchester City FC has issued an apology to Ferdinand.
