3rd Kabaddi World Cup Begins in Punjab; Pakistan Favorite

The third Kabaddi World Cup kicks off at the multipurpose stadium of Bathinda in Punjab from December 1, 2012. The event will continue till Dec. 15 in different cities of Punjab.

The 16 participating teams including Pakistan, Afghanistan, Argentina, Canada, Denmark, England, Iran, Italy, Kenya, New Zealand, Norway, Scotland, Sierra Leone, Sri Lanka, the United States and India will play 46 matches in the men's event.

There will be four groups in the men's competition. Pool A consists of India, Afghanistan, England and Denmark, while Canada, New Zealand, Sri Lanka and Norway form Pool B. Pool C will have Pakistan, Sierra Leone, Scotland and Italy whereas Pool D comprises Argentina, Iran, Kenya and USA.

In the women's category, there would be two pools -- India, Canada and Denmark in Pool A, while England, Turkmenistan, USA and Malaysia are in Pool B.

All the team will battle for the prize money of the $365,160. The runners-up will be awarded with $182,580 and the team finishing in third position will get $93,116.

Considering the current form, Asian champions Pakistan showed optimism and confidence to win the 2012 Kabaddi World Cup.
