Silva, who joined City from Valencia in July 2010, was one of the key players to have helped them win a first English title since 1968 last season and now will be with City until the summer of 2017.
Silva scored the opening goal in Spain's 4–0 win over Italy in the final of this year's European Championship and was also a member of the World Cup winning squad in 2010.
