Dubai-based luxury carrier Emirates Airlines will launch a non-stop flight between Dubai and Washington in September. Earlier this year, Dallas and Seattle were also connected by flights from Dubai.
In 2011, the UAE was the US' largest trading partner in the Middle East. Trade between the two countries was valued at over $18 billion, a 43 percent increase year-on-year.
Emirates Airlines employs over 700 Americans globally and has placed an order for 50 Boeing 777-300ERs worth $24 billion.
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) ambassador to the US, Yousef Al Otaiba, welcomed the announcement.
