UK: Banff Film Fest in Portsmouth on Feb. 15

The Banff Mountain Film Festival tour makes about 390 stops around the globe, including at The Music Hall in Portsmouth on Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2012.

This year’s tour features a collection of action, environmental and adventure films that explore exotic and remote places. Award-winning films and audience favorites were chosen from approximately 300 movies entered into the annual festival. The local tour stop will feature six action sports films.

“All.I.Can: The Short Cut” offers excerpts from the feature skiing film “All.I.Can.” with time-lapse sequences and creative visuals.

In “Reel Rock: Origins — Obe & Ashima” a young climber from New York City heads outdoors to the bouldering mecca of Hueco Tanks with her coach.

“Kadoma” takes on a tragic paddling expedition deep into the heart of Africa’s wildest rivers.

“The Freedom Chair” follows charismatic Paralympic skier Josh Dueck’s transition from competitive sit-skiing to the backcountry.

“Hanuman Airlines” is about two Nepali adventurers who channel the Hindu god of wind on their mission to launch a paraglider from Mount Everest’s summit.

“Reel Rock: Sketchy Andy” follows Andy Lewis, a master of extreme slacklining.

The event is the largest fundraiser of the year for Goodwin Community Health and helps provide people in need with access to quality health care. It begins at 7 pm at The Music Hall, 28 Chestnut St., Portsmouth, England.

Tickets for the festival will cost $25.
