The Pan African Film Festival is scheduled to be held at the Rave Cinemas in LA’s Baldwin Hills section at the Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza from Feb. 9–20, 2012. A total of 170 films, representing 30 countries, 106 feature length films (narrative and documentaries) and 64 short films will be screened during the festival.
The month long celebration will kick off by honoring dynamic American actress Loretta Devine at the Night of Tribute on Friday, Feb. 10 at 8 pm. The event will also include honors for Meagan Good for the Beah Richards Rising Star Actress Award, Leon Garr for Community Treasure Award, and Van Vicker for the African Channel Creative Achievement Award.
Devine will take home the most appropriate token of the night, the Lifetime Achievement Award for her work on stage, television and film.
More than 100 artists and quality craftsmen from the US and the world over will present their creative works using oil on canvas, watercolor and pastels, acrylic paper, glass, ceramics, metal, cloth, plastic, wax, wire, leather, stone and more during the fest. Artists will present fine art and photography, one-of-a-kind craft art, designer and traditional fashions, jewelry, home decor, fashion accessories.
