Italian World Cup hero Fabio Cannavaro arrived in Jakarta, leading several other veteran stars who are set to play an exhibition match in Jakarta on Saturday, Feb. 25, 2012.
Cannavaro, who captained Italy when it won the 2006 World Cup, was accompanied by compatriot Marco Materazzi, French 1998 World Cup star Robert Pires, former Dutch midfielder Edgar Davids and former Brazil internationals Djalminha and Denilson.
They will all play in an exhibition titled “Starbol 2012: European Friends vs. Samba Friends” on Saturday at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium.
Febri Momor, chief executive of event organizer Morstar Indonesia, said the match was moved indoors so fans could watch the players from a closer distance.
Local stars such as Ferry Rotinsulu, Oktovianus Maniani, Firman Utina, Bima Sakti and Kurniawan Dwi Yulianto will also play in the exhibition.
