Year-long Celebrations of Malviya’s 150th Birth Anniversary Begins

A major seminar on inter-faith relations involving participation from institutions like the Benaras Hindu University and Aligarh Muslim University will be a highlight of the year-long celebrations to mark the 150th birth anniversary of freedom fighter and educationist Madan Mohan Malviya this year.

The seminar to discuss inter-faith issues will bring together representatives from different schools of thoughts to find confluence in the diverse ideas of India.

The National Implementation Committee (NIC), established to conduct the birth anniversary celebrations of the four-time president of the Indian National Congress, held its second meeting in New Delhi to firm up its plans and agreed to pack the schedule with a series of educative seminars and conferences.

The commemoration will end on December 25 with a closing ceremony at the Benares Hindu University, an institution founded by Malviya in Varanasi.

The year will witness release of a series of books and translations of works linked to the freedom fighter, a number of lecture series and seminars and conferences in universities across the country.
