General Motors Unveils Chevrolet Sail, MPV Concept Cars

US auto major General Motors unveiled two vehicles — a premium hatchback Sail and a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) concept — under its Chevrolet brand for the Indian market at the 11th Auto Expo in New Delhi on Jan. 6, 2011.

To be launched in both petrol and diesel variants, both the vehicles, developed with Chinese partner Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation(SAIC), are expected to go on sale later this year.

The hatchback would be launched with a 1.2 litre petrol engine. It would be made available later with a 1.3 diesel engine. The MPV would first come with a 1.4 litre petrol engine followed by a diesel variant.

GM had unveiled two other vehicles, Chevrolet Tavera Neo 3 and Chevrolet Captiva 2.2 AT, on the opening day of the trade show on Jan. 5, 2012.
