China Launches First 3D TV Channel

China's first 3D television channel started a trial broadcast on Sunday, Jan. 1, 2012.

The channel — China 3D TV Trial Channel — is being jointly operated by China Central Television (CCTV) and five local TV stations in Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai, Jiangsu and Shenzhen.

It will be formally launched during the upcoming Spring Festival or Chinese Lunar New Year starting Jan. 23.

The channel broadcasts programs for 13.5 hours every day. People can watch 3D-effect programs with 3D television sets.
